GreenStreet Announces the Addition of Coffeehouse Caffé Bene and the Grand Opening of Salata
HOUSTON, TEXAS (March 30, 2015) – GreenStreet in downtown Houston prepares for its latest addition to the shopping and entertainment hotspot – coffeehouse Caffé Bene. Finding inspiration from the café culture typically found in Europe, Caffé Bene will provide a welcome relief for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of a busy urban environment. Patrons will immediately feel welcomed by the café’s interior space, which more closely resembles a cozy living room loft than the traditional grab-and-go design typically found in most coffee chains.
Caffé Bene’s 763 SF storefront will join the current mix of Class-A office, retail and dining tenants at 1201 Fannin, near McCormick & Schmick’s™ and just steps from GreenStreet’s open-air entertainment green space The Lawn. The café is expected to open in summer 2015. This will be Caffé Bene’s first expansion into Houston. The café’s only other Texas location can be found in Carrollton, Texas, a suburb within the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
“I am very excited to bring Caffé Bene to the Houston market,” says Caffé Bene franchisee James Son. “I first discovered Caffé Bene when I was in South Korea and in New York City, and really enjoyed their great products. I am honored to now be able to bring this concept to Houston, one of the most metropolitan cities in the world with a great diversity of people and cultures,” Son continues.
Hailed to be the café of choice for coffee connoisseurs, visitors also will be pleasantly surprised by the coffee shop’s eclectic dining menu, which will include everything from Belgian waffles and Italian gelato to a traditional Korean dessert called misugaru, a drink made with rice and barley, and even patbingsu, a shaved ice dessert with sweet toppings.
“Caffé Bene will be a great fit because we embrace diversity which is highlighted by the international elements of our design, decor and menu. I look forward to joining the evolving landscape of downtown Houston,” Son adds.
Additional items include its wide selection of tasty sandwiches as well as the café’s signature spin on toasted honey bread, topped with anything from fresh strawberries, bananas and walnuts, caramel and cinnamon, and even a savory option that piles on a decadent mix of gourmet cheese and roasted garlic.

Also making its debut at GreenStreet this year will be Salata, the popular salad franchise featuring a “create your own salad or wrap” concept. The 1,500 SF fast-casual restaurant, located on the ground-level adjacent to McCormick & Schmick’s™, is preparing to open its doors in April 2015. Launched in 2005 by owner/franchisor Berge Simonian and business partner Tony Kyoumjian, the Salata franchise now operates 42 owned and franchised U.S. locations, 20 of which are in Houston, with plans to open 40 more by the end of 2016. Visitors to GreenStreet will now have the opportunity to build their own unique salad or salad wrap, picking from a variety of fresh lettuces, veggies, fruits, nuts, cheeses and proteins plus an array of tasty signature dressings.
The addition of Salata and Caffé Bene marks an exciting time of growth for GreenStreet, while enhancing the 568,294 SF destination’s impressive mix of existing national and regional tenants. Visitors also will take notice of the progress that continues to be made on the highly anticipated Hotel Alessandra, a 225-room luxury hotel concept that will be located along Dallas just steps from Forever XXI. Hotel Alessandra is expected to open in late 2016.
